Man gets life term for murder

Principal District Judge, Vellore R.V.R. Deenadayalan on Monday sentenced a 45-year-old man to life imprisonment for murder. Arumugam, a resident of Katpadi, had stabbed Balaji (30) of Jaffarapet, Katpadi taluk on May 6, 2012 after the latter had advised him not to harass his sister.

He stabbed Balaji with a knife. The murder took place near Vellaikaalvai at Jaffarapet.

Public prosecutor T. Rajasekar said the District Judge found Arumugam guilty for offences under section 302 of IPC and convicted him. He has been sentenced to undergo life imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs. 5,000. In case of default of payment, he has to undergo six months rigorous imprisonment.
