K. Palpandi (51), a resident of Velliyangadu here, came to the District Collectorate on a wheelchair on Monday with petitions highlighting his grievances to officials on previous occasions worn around his neck.

He said that his legs were crippled after he underwent surgery at a government hospital in 2012 for a bone fracture he suffered at workplace. This, according to him, was his 20th visit to the Collectorate with the petition that the monthly financial assistance allotted to him was not reaching him regularly.

“I underwent surgery in a government hospital in Coimbatore. Soon after that my legs became weak and the hospital authorities discharged me without giving explanation. Doctors at the District Headquarters hospital here said that faulty surgical intervention on the spine resulted in crippling of my legs,” he said. His wife Deivanai said that at least if the officials could ensure that he gets the monthly financial assistance regularly, it would be of great help to the family, leave alone action against the doctors who performed the surgery.

District Collector G. Govindaraj assured to look into his grievances.
