Make use of meat plant, farmers told

Farmers, and entrepreneurs were asked to make use of the meat plant at the Veterinary College and Research Institute on Mohanur Road here.

Dean of the institute L. Gunaseelan said that the established meat plant is functioning at the institute premises for many years.

In the plant, hygienic slaughter and dressing of food animals like cattle, pig, sheep, goat, rabbit, chicken, Japanese quails is being carried out. The wholesome meat and meat products like meat balls, nuggets, cutlets, samosa are being sold through the sales counter located at the Veterinary Hospital on Trichy Road.

The dean said that the institute has planned to facilitate custom slaughter of food animals on cost basis, where in the farmers and entrepreneurs can hygienically slaughter their animals at a low cost and sell the wholesome meat on their own. Training on hygienic slaughter and preparation of value added meat products will be given to the interested farmers and entrepreneurs.
