Major reshuffle of IAS officers

Several departments, prominent among them being Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, got new heads and three districts, including Madurai, new Collectors as the State government effected a major reshuffle of IAS officers on Friday. An officer who was placed under suspension has also been given a new posting.

According to a notification, Swaran Singh, Principal Secretary/Chairman and Managing Director, State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu, is posted as Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection.

Commissioner of Museums

P.R. Shampath, formerly Principal Secretary/State Commissioner for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, is posted as Commissioner of Museums. Mr. Shampath was suspended a year ago following a sting operation by a television channel.

In other postings, P.W.C. Davidar, Principal Secretary/Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Warehousing Corporation Ltd, is the new Principal Secretary, Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department.

Harmander Singh, Principal Secretary/Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce, has been posted as Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department.

S. Krishnan, Principal Secretary (Expenditure), Finance Department, has been transferred as Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Department. T. Udhayachandran, Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Small Tea Growers Industrial Cooperative Tea Factories Federation Ltd (INDCOSERVE), Coonoor, will be the new Secretary (Expenditure). Mr. Udhayachandran will continue to hold full additional charge as INDCOSERVE CMD.

New Collectors

L. Subramanian, Sub-Collector, Chidambaram, is the new Collector of Madurai. He replaces Anshul Mishra, who has been posted as Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement), Chennai.

A.Gnanasekaran, Sub-Collector, Madhuranthagam, has been posted as Collector, Tiruvannamalai. He will replace Dr. Pingale Vijay Maruthi, who will be Deputy Commissioner (Works) of Chennai Corporation in the place of Brajendra Navnit.

Mr. Navnit has been posted as Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj.

The new Dharmapuri Collector will be K. Vivekanandan, Deputy Secretary to Governor (Universities). He takes over from R. Lilly, who will become Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Admin).

T. Jeyakanthan, formerly Collector, Chennai, is posted as Director of Stationery and Printing, replacing T. Abraham, who will be now Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Large Scale Tax Payers Unit.

T. Anand, Project Officer, District Rural Development, Thiruvannamalai, will be Deputy Commissioner (Health), Chennai Corporation. The incumbent, C.N. Maheswaran has been shifted to Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan as its State Project Director. The present SSA project director Mohammed Aslam will be the new Commissioner of Minorities Welfare.

S. Murugaia, Additional Secretary, Agriculture Department, has been made Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation Ltd.

Dr. T.G. Vinay, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, Karur, will be Deputy Commissioner (Revenue and Finance), Chennai Corporation.
