A major fire broke out in Kulithalai destroying more than 150 two-wheelers parked at the bus stand here on Tuesday.
Fire and Rescue Services sources said that the fire broke out around 2.30 p.m. at the two-wheeler stand and aided by strong winds spread to all corners of the stand, engulfing vehicles parked underneath the shed. Fire tenders from Karur, Musiri and Thuraiyur (both in Tiruchi district) rushed to the spot and after a two-hour fight brought it under control. No loss of life was reported. In all more than 10 houses, 150 two-wheelers and a restaurant were destroyed.
It is surmised during preliminary inquiries that a spark from the nearby hotel could have caused the fire.
