Nominations of major contestants in eight assembly constituencies in Tiruvannamalai district were accepted on Saturday.
Scrutiny began by 11 a.m. in the respective offices of 8 returning officers. Out of 210 nomination papers filed, 55 were rejected and 155 were declared valid.

Constituency wise number of candidates in fray: Chengam-21, Tiruvannamalai-24, Keel pennathur-19, Kalasapakkam-18, Polur-19, Arani-23, Cheyyar-19 and Vandavasi-12.
The valid candidates can withdraw till Monday.
The final picture of the list of contestants will emerge later.
