Mahamaham tank work reviewed

Senior officials from the Public Works Department on Sunday inspected the progress of desilting and refilling works in important spots associated with the conduct of the Mahamaham festival.

Superintending Engineer R. Senthil Kumar, Executive Engineer P. Kandasamy and Assistant Executive Engineer Anandan took stock of the refilling of the Mahamaham tank with fresh river sand as dredging and clearing of the old sand was completed.

Fresh water

The Mahamaham tank is to be completely filled with about 12,000 cubic metres of fresh river sand and so far 3,000 cubic metres river sand has been dumped.

The balance work will be completed by January 20.
