The following programmes are being organised on Monday as part of the ‘Madras Week’ celebrations.

A talk by Prema Kasturi on ‘Education in Chennai’ and an exhibition on ‘Madras: Pioneers of Education in India’ at Asan Memorial School, Greams Road, 9 a.m.

‘Design a Coin’ art Competition will be conducted at Sankara Vidyashram Higher Secondary School, Thiruvanmiyur, at 10 a.m.

Historian S. Muthiah and V. Sriram speak on ‘A celebration of Madras and a celebration of the life of an icon of Madras - D.K. Pattammal,’ at the University of Madras, 11 a.m.

A talk by V. Shrilekha on Wildlife of Tamil Nadu at Vanilla Children Place, Luz Avenue, Mylapore, 5 p.m. A lecture by P. Saravanan in Tamil ‘Arutpa Marutpa – the Ramalinga Swamigal – Arumuga Navalar dialogue on philosophy’ at Roja Muthiah Research Library, Taramani, at 5 p.m.

Musician Aruna Sairam speaks on ‘Singing in Madras’ at The Park, Nungambakkam High Rd., at 6.30 p.m.

Screening of ‘C/o Platform’, a documentary film on the pavement dwellers of George Town & Parry’s by Anushka Meenakshi, Anupama Srinivasan and Tarun Saldanha will be held at Madras Terrace House, Royapettah, 7 p.m.

A photography exhibition ‘A greener side of Madras’ by Rod Hudson at Gallery Sri Parvati, 11 a.m.

Exhibition of vintage and classic lobby cards, film stills, record covers and song books from old movies collected by Clare Ami at Madras Terrace House, Royapettah, 11 a.m. ‘From the City to the Presidency: Hillscapes, seascapes, people and wars through the 300 years’ exhibition at C.P. Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation, Eldams Road, 11 a.m.
