Low pressure area to bring in heavy rain over North TN

With a low pressure area persisting in the Bay of Bengal, north coastal Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Puducherry would receive heavy rain in the next 48 hours beginning 8.30 a.m. Thursday, a Met official said.

Rain or thundershowers would occur at many places over North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh while isolated rain or thundershower may occur over Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep, he said.

The Met office said Sathanur Dam in Tiruvannamalai district received highest rainfall of 10 cm in the last 24 hours ending 8.30 am Thursday.

For Chennai, the official said sky conditions would generally be cloudy with few spells of rain or thundershowers.
