The police seized two lorry loads of clothes and rice near Pennagaram on Thursday evening.

The lorries, bearing registration number TDL 7684 and TDG 9297, were rounded up by Pattali Makkal Katchi workers between Pennagaram and Madam village on the way to Hogenakkal from Dharmapuri.

It was alleged that the two lorries belong to a former DMK councillor in the Dharmapuri Municipality.

It also alleged that these lorries passed through four check posts without any checking by the police.

The seized vehicles were brought to the Collectorate around 8 p.m.

The seized items were opened by Collector P. Amutha in the presence of the Election Observer D. P. Ahuja. It was found that the textile bundles were concealed under the vegetables and rice bags. The lorry drivers escaped.
