The Women’s wing of the AITUC Construction Workers Union has threatened to organise a “lock the Tasmac outlets” agitation across the State next month, if the State Government did not close down them immediately on the lines of Kerala.
A resolution adopted to this effect at a meeting of the Union said that about 50 per cent of the people in the age group of 20 — 50 years have become addict to liquor in the state, much to the shock of the entire society.
The education of many students is affected due to the liquor policy of the State Government.
The number of young widows is on the rise in the State and the government is duty bound to check this, the resolution said.
The meeting demanded the government to post the employees of the Tasmac shops in the vacancies in various government departments.
Kavitha, State vice-president of the union, presided.
