April 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - VELLORE:

The Election Commission has given its nod to change the location of 28 polling stations in Vellore district.

According to a press release, a draft list of polling stations in the 13 Assembly constituencies of Vellore district was published recently. A consultation was held with representatives of recognised political parties and returning officers.

They recommended the location of 28 polling stations to be changed to facilitate easy access to voters.

In addition, the schools that housed 35 polling stations have been upgraded, and this necessitated changing the name of the polling stations.

These recommendations were sent to the EC, and have been accepted, the release said.

Accordingly, order has been issued to change the location of five polling stations in Katpadi assembly constituency, two each in Ranipet and Anaicut constituencies, one in Kilvaithinankuppam, three each in Ambur and Jolarpet constituencies and 12 in Tirupattur constituency, and also to change the name of 35 poling stations.
