Loaded gun found abandoned at river bank

May 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - THANJAVUR:

A single barrel breach load gun with one round inside was found abandoned along the Vadavar river bank at Thenperambur in the district on Wednesday.

It was noticed by a forest watcher at the spot who alerted the local police officials who seized the weapon. Sources suspect that the gun must have been left abandoned by gypsies who might to have come to the spot to hunt birds.

On a complaint from the forest watcher, the Kallaperambur police registered a case and they would hand over the unclaimed property to the Tahsildar, the sources added.
