L.K. Tripathy, former Chief Secretary, passed away on Monday after a terminal illness. He was 64.

According to information reaching here, Mr Tripathy, who hailed from Odisha, died in Pune where he settled down after retirement from government service. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

An officer of the Indian Administrative Service from the 1971 batch, he held different positions in undertakings and agencies of Central and State governments. He became Chief Secretary in May 2006 after the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government took office. He retired from the service in August 2008.
