A distributor of Rajinikanth-starrer Lingaa has filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court for a direction to the Chennai Police Commissioner to grant permission to him to observe a fast demanding compensation of “loss” as the film was a “failure.”
The petitioner, Marina Pictures, represented by its managing partner, R. Singaravadivelan, said he was the distributor of the film in Tiruchi and Thanjavur districts. The firm had collected Rs. 8 crore from theatre owners and purchased the distribution rights.
Earlier, it was assured that the film would be a hit. However, theatres got only meagre collections. As the theatre owners suffered losses, they urged the petitioner to repay the sum, he said.
