The Regional Meteorological Centre here has forecast partly cloudy skies with light rain over some areas in and around the city during evening or night on Monday.
However, Monday will also be a hot day with the maximum temperature around 32 degree Celsius and minimum, 27 degree Celsius. On Sunday, a few places in Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts received light showers.
The department has forecast scattered rain over south Tamil Nadu and isolated rain over the rest of the State and Puducherry in the next 24 hours.
Easterly winds carrying moisture are likely to bring rains to districts such as Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanniyakumari and Madurai. The rains are likely to continue for a few more days.
The winds near the southern districts are stronger and hence are bringing more rain than in the northern districts. The Met centre has also announced that a fresh low pressure area is likely to develop over the north Andaman sea around Tuesday.
