The Second Additional District Judge A. Naseema Banu sentenced a man, and his two sons to undergo life imprisonment for murdering a farmer in 2011.
According to the prosecution, Susheela, wife of Palanivel (35) of Tholasampatti was said to be in an illicit relationship with P. Govindaraj (35), a power loom owner.
When Palanivel warned Susheela, she committed suicide in 2010.
Upset over it, Palanivel damaged the powerlooms of Govindaraj, and broke his leg. Based on Govindaraj’s complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Palanivel. He was released on bail after 20 days.
After his release, Palanivel asked Govindaraj to withdraw the case to which he refused. Govindaraj, his brother Maharajan (33), and their father Perumal (60), murdered Palanivel on November 10, 2011.
The police arrested all the three. The judge imposed a fine of Rs. 15,000 on each of them, and ordered the amount be given to Palanivel’s three daughters.
