The Forest Department has installed camera traps near fields surrounding Doddagajanur village near Thalavadi in response to apprehension among locals about leopard presence.

The locals had claimed to have found pug marks of predators and sought the intervention of the Forest Department.

Though there was no scope for presence of wildlife in the village located a few kilometres away from the forest area, the department cleared bushes along a stream passing by close to the village.

Residents has been advised not to venture out alone in darkness, District Forest Officer of Hasanur Division C.H. Padma said.
