A portion of Mangaluru-Villupuram Road, known as Arni Road, caved in on Tuesday.

Officials of the National Highways who inspected the spotfound that the Vellore Corporation’s water pipeline had burst, loosening the soil leading to the subsidence.

As it needed immediate attention, they alerted the corporation officials.
