Floral tributes and administration of communal harmony pledge marked the celebration of 66th birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi in Chennai on Friday.
Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala administered the Communal Harmony pledge to the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan.
State Education Minister K Anbazhagan, his cabinet colleagues, and Assembly Speaker R Avudaiyappan paid floral tributes to a portrait of the late leader.
Mr. Anbazhagan administered the communal harmony pledge to the Ministers and to the Government staff at the Secretariat.
Congress leaders also paid rich tributes to the late leader.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President K V Thangkabalu garlanded a statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Saidapet and paid tributes.
At a function held at the TNCC headquarters Sathyamurthy Bhavan here, senior State Congress leaders, MLAs and functionaries paid floral tributes.
