DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday, led his party men in observing the 41st death anniversary of the party founder, C.N. Annadurai, in the State.
A silent procession, in which Karunanidhi, his son and Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and ministers took part, was taken out by DMK workers to the Anna Memorial at the Marina, where the DMK patriarch paid floral tributes to his mentor.
Meanwhile, AIADMK Presidium Chairman E. Madhusudhanan paid tributes at the memorial on behalf of Party Chief Jayalalithaa.
Anna, as Annadurai is popularly known, ushered in the first Dravidian party rule in Tamil Nadu when his party toppled the Congress government in the assembly elections in 1967. Since then, DMK and its offshoot AIADMK have been ruling the State, with Congress forced to ally with one of the two parties.
