Leaders of various political parties on Tuesday condemned the killing of a Tamil fisherman by the U.S. Navy off the Dubai port and demanded compensation for his family and other fishermen injured in the shooting.

DMK president M. Karunanidhi said the Centre should strongly condemn the incident and get adequate compensation for the families of the victims.

CPI(M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan said that besides making arrangements to bring back the body of Sekar, who was killed in the firing, to the country, the government should arrange for proper treatment for the injured fishermen.

Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) leader M.H. Jawhirullah said the Centre should get Rs. 5 crore as compensation for the death of the fisherman.
