Passenger train services between Mettupalayam and Coonoor in the Nilgiris Mountain Rail sector have been cancelled for seven more days upto December 4 due to continued heavy rain and landslips.

The services had been cancelled for three days till Wednesday, as a large boulder had fallen on the track near Kallar. Operations to restore the track are continuing, sources said. The services will be resumed subject to improvement of weather conditions, a southern railway spokesperson from Salem Division said. The NMR train is a major attraction for the tourists, particularly during winter and summer seasons, to nearby Udhagamandalam, Queen of Hills.
