A total of 113 water bodies have so far filled up in Vellore district.
Of the 519 tanks maintained by the Public Works Department, 49 have filled up.
In 16 tanks, the water level stands at 75% and in another 40 tanks, it was 50%.
Of the 49 tanks that have reached the full capacity, 20 are located in Katpadi taluk, 11 in Walajah, four each in Arcot and Tirupattur, two each in Vellore, Vaniyambadi, Ambur and Nemili and one each in Gudiyatham and Arakkonam.
As many as 414 tanks have less than 25% water. A majority of these tanks are located in Arakkonam, Nemili, Arcot and Walajah taluks.
Among the 752 lakes in panchayat unions and village panchayats, 18 in Vellore division and 46 in Tirupattur division have filled up.
Of these, 16 lakes are in Alangayam.
A total of 74 lakes had filled upto 75% of the capacity and 140 lakes had 50% water. While 178 lakes had filled up to 25%, the remaining 296 lakes do not have water.
