August 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - SALEM:

A 34-year-old labourer has alleged that he was beaten by a sub-inspector of police on Tuesday. Gajendran of Kuttapatti in Omalur said that he was returning from his father-in-law’s house on Tuesday in a two-wheeler belonging to Gubendran of Kondalampatti.

While nearing Kondalampatti roundtana, SI Srinivasan intercepted the vehicle when Gubendran was on the wheels. Gajendran said that he had consumed liquor in his father-in-law house and was returning home.

Gajendran asked Srinivasan why he did not go to his father-in-law’s house.

Angered by it, Srinivasan took him to the police station and beat him. Inquiry is on.
