Kumbakonam school fire: Headmaster cross-examined

Trial in the Kumbakonam Krishna School fire accident in which 94 children were killed and 18 children injured on July 14, 2004, continued for the second day on Tuesday.

V.S. Ramalingam, counsel for accused-1 Pulavar Palanisamy and accused-2 Saraswathi Ammal, cross examined R. Prabhakaran, headmaster of the school, who turned approver. In the afternoon, R. Madusudanan, Public Prosecutor, filed a petition for re-examining Prabhakaran. Shanthanalakshmi, accused-3, in the case filed a petition objecting to Prabhakaran turning an approver. Judge G. Saravanan said the two petitions would come for hearing on Wednesday.
