Krishnaswamy pays tribute to Gokulraj

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - SALEM:

Honour killings are on the rise in the State and a separate legislation is needed to curb the practice, said K. Krishnaswamy, founder of Puthiya Tamilagam here on Saturday.

After paying floral tributes to V. Gokulraj in Omalur and consoling the family members, he said that 48 persons belonging to various castes lost their lives to honour killings in three months in the State.

Taking a dig at various Hindu outfits for failing to condemn the brutal murder of Gokulraj, he demanded the immediate arrest of accused involved in it.

No steps taken

He said that he had spoke on the necessity of bringing a separate legislation in the State Assembly for curbing honour killing earlier. But no steps have been taken.
