The visit of External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna to Sri Lanka should be used to prevail upon the Sri Lankan government to find a political solution to the problems of the Tamils in the country without any delay, the CPI (M) State unit said on Friday.
A resolution adopted in the three day State-committee meeting which began on Friday said India should double up its efforts for rehabilitation of Tamils in the camps and creation of livelihood for those who had already been resettled in their place of origin.
Noting that the failure of the Sri Lankan government to complete the rehabilitation process even one year after the war came to an end had exposed its “indifferent attitude”, State secretary G. Ramakrishnan said 20,000 Tamils continued to live in camps without basic requirements.
