The ‘Koti Archanai’ festival conducted for the last 28 days for universal welfare came to an end at the Arulmigu Rajaganapathi Temple in Salem city on Wednesday.
The ‘Koti Archanai’ is organised once in 40 years and it commenced in the temple on June 9.
Devotees from different parts of the western districts performed archanas seeking peace, prosperity of mankind, to invoke the blessings of rain God, bountiful agriculture prospects and blessings for the children in their education, career etc.
Led by Viswanathan Sivachariyar, the head priest of Arulmigu Rajaganapathi Temple, a team of 40 students of patasala and 15 Sivacharyargal conducted the archanas every day.
On the final day, Archanai Peruvizha on Wednesday, the idol of Rajaganapthi was decorated with flowers. It was planned to perform one crore archanas from June 9 to July 11. However, the target of one crore archanas was achieved five days in advance, according to temple sources.
According to Viswanathan Sivachariyar, the Koti Archanai festival was successfully completed in record time, thanks to the cooperation extended by the devotees. It has been planned to conduct one lakh japam, 10,000 aavarthi homam, 10,000 tharpanam etc in the temple in the next few days.
The valediction cermony of the Koti Archanai festival will be held on July 11, when it has been planned to conduct 108 sahasra kalasabishekam, maha pushpa yagam, mahadeeparadani, santhi abishekam etc.
More than 100 artistes will perform santhaparanam on the temple premises in the evening on July 11, he added.
