Eye catching dolls in different shapes and sizes have been displayed in the annual kolu exhibition which got under way at Poompuhar showroom here.

District Collector Rohini P. Bhajibhakare declared open the exhibition brought up by the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation in connection with the Navarathri celebrations.

The kolu dolls have been procured from different parts of the State. The doll sets of Ashtalakshmi, Dasavatharam, Karthigai women, bharathanatyam, Valli marriage, marriage set, Gopiar set, Ramar set, Mupperumtheviyar set, Yasoda set, cricket set, musical instruments set, working women set, Kumbakarnan set, Deivanai marriage set and Raghu-kedhu set, all made of clay, are on display.

The minimum price of a doll is ₹ 100 and the maximum price ₹ 7,350. The Poompuhar offered a discount of 10% on all the purchases made at the exhibition, which will be continued till October 7.

The Collector, in a statement, called upon people to patronage the kolu dolls which would help a large number of artisans involved in this traditional industry.
