An enquiry commission appointed by Chief Minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi into a construction on Kodanad estate was due to political enmity, AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa alleged here on Wednesday.
Elaborating on the construction, she said that a 142-year old structure was being refurbished because it was in a dilapidated condition. She had taken up the work keeping in mind the welfare of the workers. The work was being carried out well within law and had all sanctions. When these were the facts, the appointment of an officer to enquire deserved to be condemned, Ms. Jayalalithaa said.
The intention was to malign her, Ms. Jayalalithaa said in a statement. Already Mr. Karunanidhi had failed in Siruthavur where he had set up a commission of enquiry into the bungalow there.
He had instigated local DMK activists to raise the issue of a road across the estate, she said. In this case too, the High Court had ruled that it was a private road and this meant yet another defeat for Mr. Karunanidhi, she said.
