Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday announced a solatium of Rs. 1 crore to the family of head constable C. Munusamy, who was stabbed to death by a gang of chain snatchers in Hosur.

She told the Assembly that the government would also bear the educational expenses of his daughter Rekshana.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said she had directed the Chief Secretary to make amendments to the existing G.O. to increase the solatium for policemen who are killed or injured in brave deeds. Though Munusamy’s family was given Rs. 5 lakh, Ms. Jayalalithaa said she was of the firm opinion that the amount was inadequate.
