Families of 16 persons, killed along with Rajiv Gandhi, plan to seek a review of the Supreme Court order commuting the death sentence given to the three convicts in the case, said ‘League’ M. Mohan, whose father ‘League’ P. Munusamy was one of the victims. Munusamy was the general secretary of the League representing Dalits in the Congress.

Mr. Mohan said his fear was that the Supreme Court judgment could set a wrong precedent, as the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi was a pre-meditated political murder. “Some political parties ran a campaign that that the lives of three Tamils should be saved. What do the lives of 16 people mean to them? Are they not Tamils,” asked Mr. Mohan. He said he was in touch with other families and would seek a review of the apex court order.
