Karunanindhi offers solatium to families of accident victims

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Thursday condoled the death of nine children and a school teacher who died in a road accident in Kariapattinam village of Vedaranyam taluk of Nagapattinam district. The deceased were travelling in a van belonging to a private nursery school and the van carried a total of 22 children and teachers. The Chief Minister sanctioned the release of Rs. 50,000 each to the families of nine students and Rs. 1 lakh to the family of a school teacher. Totally, a sum of Rs. 5.5 lakh was sanctioned from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.

Mr. Karunanidhi also ordered the release of a solatium of Rs. 1 lakh to the family of Chandrakala, a nursing student in the Chengalpattu Government Medical College, who died on Wednesday following a snake bite in the hostel for trainee nurses.
