Seeks to revive Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation
Stepping up his campaign for carving out a separate ‘Tamil Eelam' in Sri Lanka, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday sought the revival of the Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO), an outfit he was associated with in the 1980s, to fight for a separate State for Tamils on Gandhian lines.
Addressing a public meeting, organised by the party in Kolathur constituency, Mr. Karunanidhi, a key partner in the ruling United Progressive Alliance, appealed for the Centre's support for creating Tamil Eelam.
Foreseeing a new rising there, he said the struggle should be peaceful and in the path of non-violence adhered to by S J V Chelvanayakam, or Thanthai Selva, founder of the Federal Party in Sri Lanka.

“The Sri Lankan President may reject the idea, but it will be my life's mission hereafter,” the DMK leader said.
Tamils here should raise support for ‘Eelam' by reviving the TESO, of which he was a founder, with the help of leaders such as Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani.
Critical of the way the Opposition was treated in the legislature, Mr. Karunanidhi said that the ruling party should respect and guarantee the freedom to raise peoples' issues in the Assembly.
Earlier, the DMK treasurer, M.K. Stalin, said that the government was resorting to eviction of Opposition members from the Assembly, frequently denying them the opportunity to raise issues or even seek clarifications in the House.

Karunanidhi's posturing now is little understood because he did not raise the issue when he was in power while the mass killings of Tamils in Sri Lanka were going on! That Sri Lanka is a failed state has been knwon for decades and committed war crimes ending 2009. He should take a realistic stand by calling on the Centre to call for independent and full investigations by the UN into war crimes next March 2013 in Geneva.Things are only getting worse while reconciliation is a big con.Converting the computer section of the Jaffna library into toilets by the military to serve the needs of Sinhala tourists from the south,the 'white van' abductions for ransom and torture/ killings if ransoms unpaid,murder,rape,decapitation of Mahmatma Ghandhi statue in Batticaloa in the east,destruction of mosques and Hindu temples with construction of Buddha statues and temples to replace them, the appointemnt of a Buddhist priest (the only of his kind in the country)in the north are all compound failures.
I am afraid that whatever little sympathy the Tamils in Tamil Nadu
have for a octogenarian political stalwart of the Dravidian
movement - who failed miserably time and again as Chief Minister
to bring Tamil Nadu to the forefront as a top agrarian and
industrial economy on par with the best of India or even the west
- will be lost beyond redemption. Tamil Nadu has more resources
and skilled Tamils than Singapore and Malaysia put together. It
has more natural resources than most modern industrial nations of
the west. It still has more forest cover and water resources to
preserve and maintain a balanced ecosystem for ethnic forest
dwellers and wild life alike.
The artist politician who takes pride in his parochial and narrow
minded retarded call for a separate Tamil State in Sri Lanka will
never do anything productive for peaceful coexistence and
development of peoples he takes for granted to come running to his
clarion call.
This only exposes doublespeak and blood thirst.

UN referendum on the lines of E-Timor,Kosovo,South Sudan and Montenegro, irrespective of national govt. or its people's opinion, will pave the way and India and world leaders owe this to Eelam Tamils for their peace and diginity in the island nation.
Sri Lanka is a free independent country - not a place for India to carve
out a separate state.
DMK President can have a Tamil Eelam in Tamil Nadu where 65 Million tamils are residing if that is his life long ambition. Sri Lankans are very capable and have the mandate from all Sri Lankans of to solve this issue as the LTTE terrorists are completely wiped out. The present resettlement plan of displaced tamils with the speed the Government of Sri Lanka developing North and East very soon all sinhalese and tamilians will de identified as Sri Lankans proudly, eliminating the necessity of having seperate state for tamils.
I am afraid that what little sympathy the Tamils now have from the Sinhalese will be lost by the champion of Tamils making unnecessary and fruitless noises far away from the scene.

DMK chief should stop talking like this.He does not know anything about international diplomacy. He was the root cause for untold missery to the Tamils in Sri lanka.He took care of his family and his power and position at the cost of the lives and honour of the Sri lankan Tamils.Let the Tamils and Singlese solve their problem.India or DMK has nothing to contribute any more,as both have brought enough disaster to them.The West is now more sympathetic to their plight,than India and DMK.Karunanidhi is pursuing the Eelam issue with a hidden agenda with an ulterior motive.He should deal the issue intelligently,tactfully and smartly.Dont try to catch fish in a troubld water.AIADMK has already taken the issue with her and she is handling the issue swiftly.She has the capability to bring Srilankan leadership to see the reason to be fair and judicious with the Tamils.
