DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Friday criticised the AIADMK government for failing to control skyrocketing prices during its two years in power. In a statement here, the DMK president alleged that even prices of vegetables were not under control.

Commenting on the law and order situation, Mr.Karunanidhi said that even on Thursday a person who came to court was attacked and he had to run into the court hall to survive. In another incident, a patient was brutally murdered in the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital.

He also alleged that farmers, traders and labourers alike were severely hit under the present regime. Severe power shortage occurred in these two years. Industries remained closed in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode and Karur districts and workers were migrating to other States. Farming activity suffered in the delta areas last year. “The AIADMK government is trying to cover up its failures over the last two years through newspaper advertisements in a bid to mute their criticism,” he said. Further, opposition legislators were denied opportunity to speak in the Assembly.
