“Karunanidhi should apologise to Tamils for introducing liquor”

May 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Tirunelveli:

Voters of Tamil Nadu, who had been kept under the influence of alcohol in a bid to alternatively back the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for 50 years, should wake up from their sleep to bring about a revolutionary change in the State by supporting the Pattali Makkal Katchi, its Chief Ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss has said.

Addressing an election campaign meeting in Tirunelveli Town on Friday night, Dr. Anbumani said that DMK president M. Karunanidhi, who introduced liquor to the Tamil so as to keep his corrupt governance under cover, should openly apologise to them. As the highly tolerant Tamilians had repeatedly pardoned his corrupt administration, he dared to indulge in mega scams like 2G scam, which caused a notional loss of over Rs. 1.76 lakh crore to the country, he noted.

Dr. Anbumani also came down heavily on Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, saying that she had made corruption a way of life. “The Tamilians, even after witnessing the huge wealth amassed by Mr. Karunanidhi and Ms. Jayalalithaa through rampant corruption, pardoned and accepted them alternatively. Consequently, they have been looting the State for the past 50 years. Give me just five years, and it will be enough for me to take the State to the path of development and growth. Apart from executing development works to take Tamil Nadu to the enviable position, I’ll also plan the development activities to be executed in the next 50 years,” Dr. Anbumani said.

He promised that the PMK, if voted to power, would give quality and free education to all children, and healthcare in government hospitals across the State. “I’ve proved myself when I was Union Minister for Health, and hence give me a chance to serve you for just five years, which will ensure a bright future for you, your children and grandchildren,” Dr. Anbumani said.

The PMK leader introduced party candidates for the Assembly constituencies in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar and Kanyakumari districts.
