Karunanidhi to PM: make it a matter of conscience

DMK president M. Karunanidhi has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh “to act according to his conscience” and decide on attending the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting (CHOGM) in Sri Lanka.

“I once again reiterate my demand that neither the Prime Minister nor anyone from India participate in the conference,” he told reporters here on Friday.

Asked whether the DMK would withdraw its outside support to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government if Dr. Singh decided to attend the meeting, Mr. Karunanidhi said it was not an issue as the DMK had already quit the government. “The Prime Minister has his conscience and let him act according to it.”
