Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said the copper plates unearthed recently at Kazhukkani Muttam near Mayiladuthurai were the largest collection of such plates found so far in the country.

In a statement here, the Chief Minister said the total number of the plates had been engraved in the ring that was holding all the 86 plates.

“These plates are bigger than the 57 plates unearthed in Karanthai,” he said adding that he was extremely happy about the findings.
