Karti Chidambaram declares assets worth Rs.75 crore

Karti P. Chidambaram of the Congress, son of Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate S.P. Durairaj were among the 15 candidates who filed their nominations for the Sivaganga Lok Sabha constituency on the last date for filing of papers on Saturday.

Mr. Karti, who filed his papers with Returning Officer V. Rajaraman, has declared total assets of Rs.74.87 crore in his name and in the names of his wife and daughter.

The total assets included movable properties worth Rs.25.55 crore and immovable properties, including agricultural and non-agricultural lands and buildings, worth Rs.49.32 crore.

He has no liabilities and faces no civil or criminal case. His wife has a liability of Rs.6.12 crore and daughter Rs.3.14 crore.

The DMK candidate has declared movable properties worth Rs.3.38 crore and immovable properties worth Rs.11.11 crore in his and his wife’s names.

In all, 37 candidates have filed their papers.
