Karnataka law dept. examining HC judgment

Karnataka Chief Minister said the government would take a decision on filing an appeal in the case after receiving the report.

Even as All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo Jayalalithaa >returned to power on Saturday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the State law department is examining the judgment of the High Court which >acquitted her of all charges of corruption in the disproportionate assets case.

The Chief Minister said the government would take a decision on filing an appeal in the case after receiving the report.

“Our law department is examining the judgment of Karnataka High Court. After getting the report from law department, we will decide,” Mr. Siddaramaiah told reporters.

When asked if he had spoken to the All India Congress Committee in this regard, the Chief Minister said: “No, the High command is not at all interfering in the State matters“.

Ms. Jayalalithaa was on Saturday sworn in for the fifth time as Chief Minister, nearly eight months after she was forced to quit over corruption charges.
