The bandh in Karnataka affected inter-State bus services on Saturday.
Karnataka State Transport Corporation buses dropped passengers at the border while Tamil State Transport Corporation buses stopped service at Hosur main bus stand. People were taken up to Jujuvadi post by autos and minivans that stepped up services.
However, private vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers, were not stopped. Contrary to the usual police fortification along the border when the bandh gets called against Tamil Nadu, a minimal police company was posted to ensure security to private vehicles.
The Kannada Jagruti Vedike led by its State Secretary Manjunath Deva arrived at the Jujuvadi check-post and held a brief demonstration against Tamil Nadu, even as the bandh call by Kannada outfits was not related to the Cauvery water issue.
