“Promises made were fulfilled and those that were never promised were fulfilled as well,” said Kanimozhi, Rajya Sabha member of the DMK and daughter of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, here on Monday.

She was on her campaign trail in support of the DMK alliance candidate from the Indian Union Muslim League.

The condition of women had improved drastically through SHGs under the DMK's five-year rule. Women were no longer confined to their houses. To ease their hardship, the Chief Minister had promised grinders or mixies.

The DMK campaign convoy that set off from the Nagore Dargah, zipped to Nagapattinam new bus stand. Ms. Kanimozhi made a brief speech, in which she took potshots at the AIADMK.

Hitting out at the AIADMK's promises in its manifesto, Ms.Kanimozhi sought to know what one would do with four goats in Nagapattinam.

The housing scheme was never promised in the DMK's election manifesto and yet was fulfilled, she pointed out.
