Kamaraj memorial to be renovated

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday sanctioned Rs. 25 lakh for renovation of Kamaraj memorial.

According to an official press release, Ms. Jayalalithaa also ordered the allocation of Rs.10.80 lakh for erection of a statue in memory of Kavimani Desika Vinayakam Pillai in Nagercoil. He contributed a lot to the development of Tamil through poems and had fought for annexing Tamil areas in Travancore with the State, it said.

She also sanctioned Rs.99 lakh for the renovation of the preview theatre at MGR Government Film and Television Training Institute and Rs.75 lakh to the Tamil Nadu Films Division (TNFD) to digitise its old news rolls. Rs.18 lakh was allocated to TNFD to buy state-of-the -art equipment ‘Live Back Bag’ that would help send footages of the events in which the Chief Minister takes part to all television channels instantly.
