A 15-year-old juvenile, who was remanded last week in a home in Salem for attempted sexual assault of a 4 year-old girl here, was brought to the examination centre here for his SSLC board exam on Monday.

The boy was secured and remanded last week under the POCSO Act after he was caught by locals when he attempted to sexually assault a little girl in his neighbourhood.

Allotted

seat

Speaking to The Hindu , magistrate and Chairperson of the District Child Welfare Committee Vincent Sunderaj said the juvenile was made to sit in the allotted seat among his peers.

“We did not want any kind of isolation and resultant trauma for the offender.”

As for his rehabilitation, the Juvenile Justice Board would have to decide on his case, considering the boy and his family members were facing hostility in the village, Mr.Vincent Sunderaj said.
