Judicial custody extended

Principal District and Sessions Judge Alamelu Natarajan on Thursday extended judicial custody of suspected Maoists T. Praveen, who is known as Roopesh, and wife P.A. Shyna, till July 12. Public Prosecutor for Tirupur district K. N. Subramaniam has sought extension of judicial custody for enabling the police to complete further investigation.The police sources said that the cases against the two accused were related to incidents for which FIRs were registered under Sections 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using a forged document as genuine record) of IPC. Section 34 (A) of Unlawful Act, 1967 too has been invoked against them for their stay in Tirupur city before the arrest at Karumathampatti, he added. On Thursday, Praveen was brought to the court from Coimbatore Central Prison. Shyna is in the custody of Kerala police.
