A three-member gang stole 28 sovereigns of gold and Rs.1.10 lakh in cash from a house in Amman Kovil Street, Mudhumothamozhi near Thisayanvilai around 11.30 p.m. on Sunday. Police said Muthuvel and his wife Ponselvi were residing in the house. When Muthuvel opened the door to attend to nature’s call, three men barged in, assaulting him and tied the hands of Ponselvi and gagged her.
