Jewellery missing

Santhi of Arthanari Street in Shevapet has lodged a complaint with the police that gold jewellery weighing about 700 gm kept in the house had gone on Monday. Santhi was living with her daughter Revathi, who got separated from her husband. Santhi was in Chidambaram to undergo treatment. When she returned on Monday, she found the jewellery missing.

Lawyers boycott

Demanding that the recent amendments made to the Advocates Act be withdrawn, members of Salem Bar Association continued to boycott court proceedings here on Monday.

Temple festival

To prevent clash during temple festival in Mallasamudram, near Tiruchengodu, police personnel have been posted in large numbers on Monday. A row over performing puja at Chellandi amman temple between two communities is prevailing. On Sunday, Tiruchengode Revenue Divisional Officer G. Mahatma held a meeting with both the groups. It was decided to conduct puja and not car festival.
