Jeeyar gets another threat

February 24, 2018 11:53 pm | Updated 11:53 pm IST - Srivilliputtur

Sri Satakopa Ramanuja Jeeyar of Manavala Mamunigal Mutt here received a letter that threatened him with dire consequences if he insisted that lyricist Vairamuthu must visit Sri Andal temple to render a public apology for his ‘derogatory’ remarks against the poet-saint.

The letter, purportedly written by Rajendran of Tiruchi, was posted on Wednesday and addressed to the Jeeyar. A Bajrang Dal functionary, Saravana Karthik, lodged a complaint with the Srivilliputtur Town police on Saturday for which the police issued a receipt under the community service record. This is the second threat letter received by the Jeeyar. He had been receiving threatening calls on his mobile phone.
