DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin said on Saturday that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s allegation that there was a conspiracy behind the power crisis in Tamil Nadu was a “clear ploy to fool the people…”
“Only on April 1 did she claim that the State government had entered into agreements with the other States for purchase of power, and very soon Tamil Nadu would be free from power cut. Now, she contradicts her earlier statement by attributing the crisis to a conspiracy. Can we construe her earlier statement as a Fools’ Day message?” he said in an interview to The Hindu .
Mr. Stalin, who was deputy Chief Minister when the DMK was in power, also challenged Ms. Jayalalithaa to list the employment opportunities created by the AIADMK government. “Her government is not able to establish any industry. But the DMK government created 25,000 jobs by setting up a SIPCOT industrial estate at Cheyyar.”
He rejected Ms. Jayalalithaa’s allegation that her government had opened a mineral water plant to check the price of mineral water bottles manufactured by DMK men. “It is a ridiculous argument. Anyone can launch a business,” he said.
